The Inexperienced Ghost by Markland J. Taylor
Originally a short story by H.G. Wells, “The Inexperienced Ghost” tells the story of a dinner party gone awry. Nigel Clayton and his wife Estelle are hosting their first dinner party in their new home. After dinner Estelle takes her guests on a tour of the old, country house while Nigel stays in the living room. When the ghost appears, Nigel has a hard time believing that his guest isn’t among the living. The pathetic ghost explains to his disbelieving host that he has forgotten how to disappear. Nigel helps him remember. After the ghost has disappeared, Estelle and the guests, Christopher and Margaret Evans, Michael and Angela Wishfort, and Andrew and Eloise Sanderson, arrive to the room. As their maid Burton serves coffee, Nigel explains to them what has taken place, even showing them how the ghost disappeared.
