Students and Parents:
Hello and welcome to Gibbon Public School`s Choral Program webpage. I am very excited to begin working with all of you. Its sure to be an interesting and exciting year. I strongly believe that everyone can be involved in music. It is truly a rewarding field that helps you grow everyday. Music can not only bring a person joy, but can help people express themselves, can help people more deeply understand each other, and can help people develop life-long skills. It is a proven fact that children who study music at a young age are better capable of critical thinking, math, and science skills later in life. In addition, the study of theatre can aid students in self-confidence, self-expression, and communication skills. It is truly wonderful that our kids can do this every day in a classroom setting.
This year, we will have multiple concerts and programs and we will participate in conference and district music, as well as auditioning and attending various honor clinics. To provide everyone with the tools for success throughout the school year, I have filled this site with all the helpful information you will need. By hitting the MENU button in the top right corner you will see links to various other pages for you to visit. The About page will lead you to the Choral Handbook with all the information about the mission of this program, my expectations, my grading policies and much more. Parents, please be sure to virtually sign the agreement at the end of the handbook acknowledging that you have read it.
The Contact page contains all of my own information, as well the school itself. The Calendar has the list of all the important dates for the school year. This includes important dates in the general school schedule (such as days off), and all of our concert dates, dates for district music contest, honor clinic application deadlines, and the dates for the clinics themselves. Also included are the the dates, times, and locations of the Fine Arts Boosters' meetings.
I have also added a page dedicated to Theatre at Gibbon. Here you can find all the information about our competition One Act in the fall and the Spring Musical. I have already filled in the information for this year's One Act, but information on the musical will be coming later.
Finally, as the school year progresses, please check back and take a look at all of our pictures and videos on the Gallery page. I would love to add any photos you might take of us during our performances or events, so please feel free to email me a copy and I will get them uploaded.
Thank you for all of your hard work and support now and in the future.
